Before and After
There are so many milestones in life that we take for granted after they’ve come and gone. Those acts that we wait for, sometimes prepare for hour after hour, and once they are performed, there is no going back.

Thanks for visiting my site. I’m driven by the exploration of human connection and how we can better reconnect to ourselves, our families, and our communities. Aside from my books, I hope you’ll check out my blog, and some of my other writing to find more perspectives and tools.

We humans do enjoy a good fight, don't we.
MO'N
Happy B-day, Lady
So many befores and afters I don't even remember. However, I do remember my grandmother's house before indoor plumbing. Ever try to pee squatting above (and accidentally sitting on) a coffee can? Yes. One of those metal things…metal.
We peed in coffee cans, too, Wanda. Yikes!
I actually think taking a stand has benefit if we're clear about the reasons. Once those reasons shift, the stand becomes unimportant. Subtle shifts are as powerful, if not more so, than cataclysmic ones. Eve's life will change when she gets her phone. She'll also be a different person having a cell phone at 12 than she would have been getting it at 8.
Cell phones are for high schoolers. That's my strong opinion. All these younger kids with them, they aren't ready for them!
For Eve it is probably as much about being like all the other kids as it is about having the phone itself. Fitting in. Not being a subject of ridicule. Fortunately, she has a mom (and from what I gather, a dad too) who can help her navigate well the minefield of others' opinions, jabs and jeers. Lucky girl.
